Snowshoeing is an excellent way to explore the village-resorts of Val d'Arly and to discover our villages’ closely guarded secrets at your own pace. Breathe in the clean mountain air and soak up the scenery as you wander through the woods, hamlets and alpine meadows. A breath of fresh air guaranteed!

 

SNOWSHOE TRAILS

divided between a dozen signposted and patrolled circuits, most of which are groomed,

At Crest-Voland Cohennoz: 4 signposted circuits around the village (not groomed) of between 20 minutes and 4hrs

At Flumet and St Nicolas la Chapelle: 1 circuit around the lake (2.5km) and 1 circuit between Flumet and Megève (25km)

At La Giettaz en Aravis: 3 signposted snowshoe trails starting from the hamlet of Le Plan and 1 starting from the top of the Torraz chairlift, with a magnificent view of Mont Blanc

At Notre Dame de Bellecombe: 4 circuits starting from the village, Mont Rond and Le Lachat, covering 2.5 to 3.5km and taking 1hr to 2hrs 30mins.

SNOWSHOEING IDEAS

Stroll along Mont Rond at Notre Dame de Bellecombe

Difficulty : medium - Time: 2h30
Route description : take the Mont Rond chairlift (pedestrian access at peak times, approx. €6/pers),
and then follow the ridge towards the Lac de Güy. Descend easily towards La Boulangère. Return to the start point by shuttle bus or path alongside the road. The reward : Breath-taking view of the Mont Blanc Range, the Aravis and the Beaufortain. Mountain restaurant for a glass of good mulled wine

The Chapet snowshoe trail at La Giettaz

Difficulty : medium - Time : 3hrs 30mins  
Route description : This circuit is nearly all through the woods and therefore pleasant even if the weather is bad. Start at the Plan de La Giettaz. Follow the cross-country skiing trail, and then continue along the Michel path to the Chalets du Chapet, from where there is a stunning view of the Arondine Valley and the Rocher de la Ville - an impressive wall of schist that overlooks the village of La Giettaz. Return by the same route.
