Enjoy the sweeping biew over the Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountain range
The track criss-crosses the mountain pastures and links the pastoral farms around which the herds graze. This track, which takes you to Ugine or
Sallanches, is historically known as the ‘route de la Soif’. We might think that this name evokes the exceptional sunshine on this route. But the real reason for the name actually dates back to its inauguration in the 1950s, when all the cafés in La Giettaz went on strike, fearing for their business.
You can start from the village of La Giettaz en Aravis, accessed via the Route des Grandes Alpes, which adds 6 km and 370 m of ascent.
