From the 11th century, a church was built in the market town of Flumet, and it was said that the tower was part of the fortified enclosure that protected the city...
The inhabitants had permission to use the stones from the old chateau to rebuild it... And yes, the fortified walls and the chateau, built by Aymon II de Faucigny, were no longer used from the 14th century (1355), since Faucigny and Savoie came to an arrangement without using their weapons... marriage!
The main altarpiece was made in 1809 by an artist from the other side of the Alps, from a valley called Valsésia. Look at the columns that support it... Doesn't it look like some take us up and others bring us down? This is in fact symbolic of the link between the Earth (the profane world) and the Heavens (the sacred world), represented by these so-called Solomonic columns, which are a typical characteristic of Baroque Art.
