The Val d'Arly and its eponymous torrent are ideal for recharging your batteries in a beautiful mountain setting just a stone's throw from Mont Blanc.
As you ascend this one-kilometer trail, you'll gradually disconnect from habitation and civilization.
Specific regulations: Natural bait is prohibited; only artificial lures and flies, and synthetic imitation baits are permitted. Two hooks or three barbless artificial flies are permitted. Any fish caught must be returned to the water alive immediately.
Its alternating riffles, pools, and flats make this a varied course where brown and rainbow trout will be hard-fighting. This course, with its steep and wooded banks, is aimed at more experienced anglers who know how to wade through rough waters. All techniques are possible: a float with an artificial larva, a spoon, or a heavy nymph for the deep waters, and sometimes a dry fly in the riffles. The Arly reveals its full potential after the snow melts, when it has returned to its low water level, generally starting in July.
Fishing permits are sold at the Val d'Arly Tourist Offices or directly at http://cartedepeche.fr
