Covetan Theme Trail

The Covetan trail, a snowshoeing itinerary in winter and a themed walk on the wetlands in summer.
This area, between Covetan and the Lachat plateau, is a group of peat bogs, part of which has been classified as a Regional Nature Reserve since 2013.
This environment is sometimes called “Little Lapland” because many of the plant species we find here can also be found in Scandinavia.

Come and enjoy a forest walk in a natural setting.
This itinerary will help you discover the most beautiful landscapes around, between the Mont Charvin and the Aravis mountains.

It is one of the few accessible trails in summer as well as in winter.

Fresh walk

800m after the beginning of the trail, you will find the first (of a long series!) reading table, about natural springs.
There are wooden planks all along the path, to make walking easier.

If you want to see the fauna, you have to be very quiet! They are not far away!
The vegetation is humid and fragile. It is important not to stray from the path for safety reasons.
At the end of the trail, you will come back on your steps to go back to the car park.

From the town hall of Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, go up the departmental road D 218b towards Les Saisies, going through the hamlet of Planay, then Plan dernier and then continue for a little less than 3km, before stopping at the car park on the left before the stream of Covetan.

From Crest Voland, take the road towards Les Saisies. At the junction between Les Saisies and Notre Dame de Bellecombe, turn left. Go under the bridge, then the small parking lot will be on your left.

Wild atmosphere

With your snowshoes, let’s go for a 3.5km forest walk in a completely natural setting.
With its 150m of difference in altitude, this snowshoe walk is accessible to the whole family.

For even more magic, choose a day after it has snowed a lot to do this snowshoe hike. You’ll be blown away by the beautiful sparkling fir trees.

Good to Know!”

In winter, you share this space with the dog sledding activity.

Dogs, even on a leash.
